Hi can't upgrade from WINXP Pro to Vista Beta 2, tell me got to do clean install. Any suggestions?

Can't Upgrade From WINXP Pro
I thought I read somewhere that the upgrade option has been disabled for the current version of Vista, probably to discourage people from trying to use it in a production situation. Check out my blog at www.techfornonprofits.com for more on how I installed Vista on my production machine but on a separate hard drive partition. Works like a champ. -- LK

About 99% of the advice in the newsgroup is to "not" do an upgrade from XP, but to install in a different patition or 2nd HD. "But" if you chose not to follow their advice you can only do an upgrade from within XP, the option to upgrade is not available if you are booting from the Vista DVD. "CowboyBob" wrote in message

CowboyBob, thanks for the information, but did have an image of my hard drive and was going to restore once I played around with it. But the other option of installing to another partition might be ok. Got space on my hard drive just wanted to avoid doing a dual boot and the hassles that brings when you want to uninstall (master boot record etc.)

The hassles of "uninstalling" Vista (there actually is no such thing as uninstalling Vista) are less when Vista is on another partition or drive than it is if you have overwritten your system drive.
